FAQ

I purchased a game and I need to download a new or updated version: Send the name and email address used to order the game to the technical support email listed above, and we'll send you a new download link.

I ordered a game and I have not yet received a download link. #1 I use hotmail mail or yahoo mail: BMT Micro, the company that processes our online orders, verifies all hotmail and yahoo email orders individually, by hand. They do this as an extra measure to protect against fraud, but it can delay an order by a day or two. Your credit card will not be charged until the download instructions are sent. Orders that are made using an email address other than hotmail or yahoo will be processed immediately.

I ordered a game and I have not yet received a download link. #2 I do not use a free email account. If you have not received your order within 5 minutes (give or take a half an hour if your ISP is slow about sending your email), then send a message to the tech support email listed above and ask for a new download link. Spam filters are the biggest reason for people not receiving their download and receipt emails. Make sure to turn it down or off before requesting a second download email.

The computer locks-up as soon as you launch the game: This can be caused by having the wrong DirectX drivers installed for your video card. Visit http://www.microsoft.com/directx and get the latest version of DirectX available.

The game will not start when you attempt to run it: You video card either a) can not display a resolution of 800x600, or b) your video card does not support 16-bit highcolor or 24/32-bit truecolor color depths. Version of Pocket Tanks before verison 1.00b gave no error message when this happened, but now a dialog box will tell you that the 800x600 highcolor screen could not be opened.

Having trouble with the game crashing: Try turning off background applications such as anti-virus, firewall, P2P file sharing software, desktop pets and toys, etc.... Any program that is running in the background when you play a game can either slow down performance, and in some rare cases actually cause a crash.

The game randomly crashes, or there is a lot of noise when music and/or sound effects are played: Try turning down the hardware acceleration for the sound card. To do this, go into the Control Panel in windows, click on 'Sounds and Multimedia'->'Audio'->'Advanced'->'Performance' and drag 'Hardware Acceleration' down a notch, or more until it is fixed. The problem is most frequent with computers that have a Sound Blaster Live sound card and an Athlon CPU. The best fix for those systems is to install the latest sound card driver, update the motherboard drivers, update the motherboard BIOS, look for patches, etc.... not for the faint of heart, or the inexperienced computer user.

The music and sound effects sound fast/slow/noisy/garbled/etc...: You need to update your sound card drivers. Sometimes the default drivers that come with Windows are not the most compatible, and you need to install latest drivers. If your sound card came with a driver disc, try installing those first. Otherwise download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's web site. If that does not fix it, consider turning down the sound card's hardware acceleration. To do this, go into the Control Panel in windows, click on 'Sounds and Multimedia'->'Audio'->'Advanced'->'Performance' and drag 'Hardware Acceleration' down a notch, or more until it is fixed.
